EU Service Directive
The EU Services Directive was implemented into UK law by the Provision of Services Regulations 2009. The directive aims to break down barriers to cross-border trade in services between Member States, making it easier for service providers such as local authorities to set up business and offer their services elsewhere within the European Economic Area. The aim is to establish an online ‘Point of Single Contact’ for service providers to find out about doing business in the UK and apply for services online.
